Technical information
Component impermeability
The resistance of a fabric to water pressure is measured in mm of water column (test based on JIS 1092). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. A component with a waterproof rating of 5,000 mm therefore resists the pressure exerted by 5,000 mm of water (which corresponds roughly to a 1-hour downpour). Waterproofing is expressed in schmerbers (for example: 5,000 schmerbers). This data is before washing.
Windproof effect
The fabric is made waterproof and therefore windproof by applying the coating to its inner face. In fact, a waterproof fabric has the technical characteristics to be certified as windproof. It is very important to be protected from the wind when active and at rest because it cools the body enormously.
Component breathability
The breathability of a component is measured by its “Thermal Evaporative Resistance” (RET).
This is its ability to let the water vapor produced by the body during exercise escape to the outside and thus prevent the accumulation of water on the skin.
The lower the RET value, the more breathable the fabric.
RET 6: very breathable fabric
RET 12: breathable fabric
RET 20: poorly breathable fabric
Our product has RET 12
Where do our jackets come from ?
Created in our international design center at the foot of Mont Blanc, in France, this jacket is then made by our suppliers in Vietnam, Ethiopia and Bangladesh.
These are partners who have real know-how in the manufacture of our jackets and with whom we work closely.

Tests
Our Decathlon Sportslab laboratory, based in Lille, also contributes to the innovation and development of our Quechua products. It brings together 4 themes, each with its own space and technological tools:
Morphology (in particular thanks to 3D analysis)
Movement sciences
Thermal comfort (with its four climatic chambers)
Behavioral and sensory sciences
Approved by
In order to meet your requirements, Quechua products are tested in the mountains, in the conditions you may encounter during your hikes.
Sarah, our Field Test Engineer, as well as a panel of child testers, test the products throughout their development until they are marketed.
