Technical information
How grippy are the soles of the NH100 MID WP F hiking shoes on hiking trails?
Designed in our laboratories, we use a specific rubber formulation to optimize the grip and adhesion of this sole. We systematically seek the best compromise to evolve on a greasy ground (grip) as on a dry ground (adhesion).
Designed for hiking use
Our hiking shoes are designed for use on hiking trails. In fact, we choose and test the components of the sole and upper of our shoes to best adapt to hiking on soft trails (such as dirt forest trails) or mineral trails (such as rocky coastal trails). Use on the road (tarmac) may accelerate the wear of your shoes and cause you discomfort. They are not suitable for hiking in the mountains.
Waterproofing test
Tested in the laboratory and in use, shoes equipped with a membrane ensure optimal waterproofing and breathability. First immersed in water under air pressure, the absence of bubbles on the surface of the shoe is checked. The shoes are then half immersed and placed on a mechanical arm simulating walking to check that the inside of the shoe remains perfectly dry.
Measuring impermeability
The NH100 Mid WP shoes are waterproof for 2 hours of hiking.
They have been tested for 2000 flexes in the laboratory. Once the shoes are dry, they regain their original waterproofness.
During the waterproofing test, we test three levels of waterproofing:
– 2000 flexes, approximately 2 hours of hiking
– 4000 flexes, approximately 4 hours of hiking
– 8000 flexes, approximately 8 hours of hiking
How is the durability of the NH100 MID WP F hiking shoe determined?
Laboratory tests are also conducted to validate the following elements: tearing of eyelets and straps, gluing, toxicology, UV resistance, abrasion of the sole and upper components, accelerated aging.
These tests allow us to improve the quality of our products and prevent premature wear of our hiking shoes.
Extend the life of your shoes
We recommend that you use a re-waterproofing spray several times a year to restore the original water repellency and combat exterior stains.
Which pair of socks are suitable for Quechua NH100 MID waterproof shoes?
These shoes offer some breathability but not enough to wick away all the moisture from your sweat. So we recommend Hike 100 Mid socks: they contain moisture-absorbing cotton and have a terry construction that draws moisture away from your foot. They are also high enough to protect your ankle from the shoe. This is a great combination for reducing the appearance of blisters.
